Mental health is an important part of overall health and well-being. Unfortunately, many people do not seek help when they are struggling with mental health issues. Fortunately, there are a variety of resources available to help those who need assistance.
The first step in getting mental health help is to recognise that you need help. It can be difficult to admit that you need assistance, but it is essential to seek professional help if you are struggling to cope with daily life. Personally, I have been on medication on and off since my teens. Nowadays I am more knowledgable about more natural approaches to help my battles. I am not suggesting this is for everyone and who knows, maybe after I´ve had my third children, I will need to go back on medication as well as having natural theapies. Nobody can judge you, you are the only one who can decide on what is best for you and your body. Once you have identified that you need help, the next step is to find the appropriate resources.
One of the most common sources of mental health help is through your primary care provider. Your doctor can provide a referral to a mental health professional or offer advice on managing your mental health. It is also important to reach out to family and friends who can provide emotional support.
In addition, there are a variety of mental health organisations and support groups that can provide assistance. Organisations such as the NHS or MIND provide resources for those suffering from mental illness. Support groups can also help individuals feel connected to others who are going through similar experiences.
Lastly, it is important to take care of yourself. Easier said than done (I know!), every-time I feel down, I get frustrated and basically want to hiberate with a movie and a huge bar of chocolate! But making sure you are getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly - even a slow paced walk, natural remedies, treatments and engaging in activities that bring you joy. These self-care practices can help to boost your mental health and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Getting mental health help can be daunting, but it is essential to address mental health issues in order to live a healthy and fulfilling life. Reach out to your doctor, family, and friends, and consider joining a support group or mental health organisation. Most importantly, take time to take care of yourself and your mental health.
